Decide whether leveraged trading fits your goal

Buying an investment for long-term ownership and trading a leveraged currency derivative are different activities. Before choosing a forex account, understand margin, the full position size, liquidation rules and what happens during gaps. If your objective is simply to own shares or diversified funds, investigate a securities account rather than assume a forex platform is the right starting point.

Use a demo with a written checklist

A demo can help you learn order entry without committing trading capital. Practise finding the contract size, entering an order, setting a stop, closing a position and downloading history. Demo fills do not prove live execution quality. Avoid taking a successful simulated trade as evidence of a repeatable real-money result.

Compare the costs of a small, specific example

Choose one instrument and one trade size. Work out the spread cost, opening and closing commissions, overnight charge and currency conversion. Check minimum commission rules, which can matter for small trades. Our calculator exposes each assumption; its initial values are a worked example, not a broker quote or a suggested position.

Check the exit before the entry

Read withdrawal conditions, identification requirements, account closure fees and the complaint procedure before funding. Save the legal name, licence evidence and agreement. If a representative pressures you to transfer money quickly or guarantees returns, pause and verify independently through the regulator’s official site.
